Dr. Cowles is a graduate of Tufts University with a degree in biology and chemistry and a cum-laude graduate of the New England College of Optometry where he was awarded the Pi Omicron Sigma Award for Outstanding Achievement in Theoretical and Applied Optometry.
Following graduation, Dr. Cowles served as a Captain in the United States Air Force as Chief of Eye Services at Eielson Air Force Base Hospital, Fairbanks, Alaska, and has been in practice in Chatham since 1969. He lives in Chatham with his wife, Kay, and has two children, Geoffrey, an engineer and member of the faculty of The School for Marine Science and Technology at UMASS, Dartmouth, and a daughter, Sarah, who is an elementary school teacher and lives in Encinitas, California. He has the world's four best Grandchildren, Jake, Jordy, Pheobe and Ellie.
Primary eyecare and contact lenses, eye disease, pre and post-operative evaluations and co-management for cataract and refractive surgery and monitoring of macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. We work in close association with the excellent eye surgical groups available on Cape Cod and will co-manage any surgical or specialty care our patients might need in partnership with these groups.
